Now Hiring [PAID] Peer Educators!


Health Services is thrilled to expand the Peer Educator role to a paid student worker position!

Are you enthusiastic about outreaching to other students?

Do you want to let your community know that it is okay to ask for help?

Do you want to make it easier for others to accept that mental health support is something we all benefit from?

Are you able to represent Health Services in-person on either the Oceanside, San Elijo campus, or both?

Do you bring energy and creativity to in-person outreach and social media? Do you want to share YOUR story?

Finally, are you available to meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 2pm to 3:30pm on the Oceanside campus?


Employment Start Date: August 12, 2022 or later

Hours: 10 hours/week

Pay: $15/hour ($15.50/hour after 1/1/23) - work study eligible but not needed (DACA-recipients welcome)

Schedule: Biweekly meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Oceanside campus. (Might change to 2:30pm to 4pm and also debating making an alternate meeting on Wednesdays at the San Elijo campus.) The remainder of hours will be scheduled based on your availability, Monday-Friday.

Location: Oceanside, San Elijo, and some remote projects

Job Description: Under the supervision of a Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Peer Educators act as the bridge between Health Services and MiraCosta students. Peers take an important role in reducing the stigma around asking for help and seeking mental health support. Peer Educators represent Health Services tabling at events on both the Oceanside and San Elijo campuses, provide classroom presentations, create social media content and flyers, and bring their creativity and energy in reaching their communities.

Ideal Students: Interested in exploring a career in mental health, social work, and related professions. Interested in supporting the MiraCosta College student body. Passionate about reducing stigma around seeking help.
